How to Obtain Crime Stats for Your Area
Click on the "Dallas Crime Statistics" link above and a page of small print will come up called the disclaimer. You have to go to the bottom of the page and click "I attest ..." and click on "Public Assess for Reports" and hit enter. The next page that comes up will be the important page.
Look at the grid and near the bottom is a box marked "Reporting Area" and another marked "Beat". Enter your reporting area (or Beat or street) and go to the bottom of the grid to the calendars. Click on the blue calendar on the left side when it opens up. Select the date that you want to begin the search. When you click it, it will go into the FROM box. Do the same thing with the blue calendar on the right side and it will go into the TO box. Once the reporting area or beat and the date span has been entered go to the bottom of the page and hit BEGIN SEARCH.
When the list of offenses comes up, on the far left side of the page is a column for "Service Number" . Click on each service number and the individual report will come up on the screen. What you get is what is available to a citizen under "open records" . You can go back to the original grid and enter different data to get various types of data.
